Parent Consultation and Coaching

I work closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen children’s executive functioning and emotion regulation skills, while reducing patterns of noncompliance at home. My approach integrates cognitive-behavioral strategies with a relational lens, drawing from the work of Carolyn Webster-Stratton, John Gottman, and Ross Greene, among others.

As we work together, we may address how to:
  • Increase desirable behaviors
  • Respond versus react to your child's misbehavior
  • Improve morning and bedtime routines
  • Increase cooperation
  • Teach self-soothing and emotion regulation
  • Coach your child on their social skill development
  • Improve executive functioning skills such as impulse control, time management and organization
  • Improve parent-child communication and overall relationship

What Ages Do You Help With?

I work with parents and caregivers who have children between the ages of 3 and 12.

Is This Service Covered by Insurance?

Yes, if your child has a relevant diagnosis, insurance typically covers this service. You may want to contact your insurance carrier to determine your out-of-pocket costs. The billing (CPT) code for parent coaching is 90846. If your child does not have a current diagnosis, Dr. Altemeier can provide an initial, targeted assessment. This will also help to inform the guidance you receive.

If you prefer not to bill insurance and would prefer to skip this first step, we can discuss your options together.
