Why is Emotion Regulation Important?
Emotion regulation means helping kids notice, understand, and manage their feelings so they can handle life’s ups and downs in healthy ways. Research shows that when children build these skills, it lowers their risk for mental health problems—especially for the teen years when mental health risks increase. iThrive Kids teaches emotion regulation and other skills that serve as protective factors, including: healthy parent-child communication skills, conflict resolution skills, metacognitive strategies (for example, positive self-talk), and healthy routines.
