iThrive Emotion Regulation and Resilience Program

NOW ENROLLING FOR FALL 2026
iThrive Emotion Regulation and Resilience Program is an 8-week program that runs every fall and spring and helps 4th and 5th graders build emotion regulation and resilience now for middle school and beyond. Here are a few facts about the iThrive program: It is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Collaborative Problem Solving.
  • It is designed for children who experience emotions intensely or have difficulty recovering from frustration, disappointment, worry, or conflict. Participants may be emotionally sensitive, anxious, gifted or twice-exceptional (2e), or neurodivergent.
  • In addition to working directly with children, iThrive offers individual parent coaching.
  • Preliminary outcome data suggest a meaningful reduction in behaviors of concern following completion of the program.

Why is Emotion Regulation Important?
Research suggests that strong emotion regulation skills support children’s mental health and may help protect against anxiety and depression over time.

iThrive Kids builds these skills before the teen years, a developmental period when anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns often increase.

Now accepting applicants for Fall 2026!
The first group meeting begins October 15th.
Groups run every Thursday from 5:30-7:00 PM (except Thanksgiving)

What Can My Child and I Expect During the Program?
The iThrive Emotion  Regulation and Resilience program includes two components:

1.  Weekly Children’s Group - In Person
Your child will participate in a small group (led by Dr. Altemeier) that meets once a week for 90 minutes. Groups are helpful to normalize children's experiences and allow for more fun while learning.

2.  Individualized Parent Coaching - Online
Parents participate in weekly, individualized coaching via Zoom at a mutually agreed-upon time during school hours. These sessions provide parents with strategies that align with what their child is learning. Parents practice their own skills at home while supporting their child in completing weekly Home Challenges. Preliminary outcome data suggest meaningful improvements in parent-reported behaviors of concern following completion of the program.
